Scott Beale is an entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience related to growing successful businesses. At the moment Scott works as the Senior Vice President of Sales and Corporate Development for Tempus Applied Solutions, based in Williamsburg, VA. In his current role, Scott has designed and implemented strategies resulting in 200% sales revenue growth. At an early age, Scott Beale’s goal was to be a pilot. However, his father suggested he obtain a business degree while enrolled at Ohio State. After graduating in 1995, Scott found a job as a general manager of an aviation business in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2000 Scott eventually purchased this company and renamed it FlightWorks. Scott considers himself a pioneer in the aviation industry. Traditional companies own or lease the aircraft they charter. However, Scott has employed a method where the company manages other people’s aircraft assets and then sells time on them in the aircraft charter market when the aircraft are not utilized for private operations.

One of the best aspects of working in the aviation industry is flying privately. However, the most enjoyable aspect of the business, in Scott Beale’s opinion, is serving the United States government and high-net-worth individuals. Scott has been fortunate enough to meet many celebrities and many US Air Force Generals. While there are many positive aspects to working in the aviation industry, there are many challenges as well. First, a high level of technical expertise is required for all employees. Over the course of his career, Scott has learned that recruiting, grading, and hiring the best people is one of the key components to a company’s long-term success. Another challenge is the long contracting cycles and the capital expenditures required for the business’ operation. Substantial investment is nee to perform work for the US government. Once a contract is over it takes time to redeploy the assets that were invested in.
Throughout his career, Scott Beale has been fortunate enough to be involved in many exciting projects. At the moment Scott’s organization is responsible for the sale and modification of a Gulfstream aircraft for the US Air Force. The goal is to install a laser in the aircraft which will be used to measure the conditions for missile defense. Tempus Applied Solutions will operate the aircraft for USAF missions and critical training exercises. This project is the first of its kind, and it has potential to improve the accuracy of USAF data by multiple factors.
Another exciting project which Scott Beale has been involved in relates to conducting surveillance on the US/Mexico border. For the past 12 months, Tempus Applied Solutions has assisted USNORTHCOM with watching for illicit drug activity and the transportation of illegal immigrants. In just one month in 2017, the operation was directly responsible for preventing over 1,200 LBS of narcotics from entering the US.
